We visited the Heath Ceramics factory and store today in Sausalito, CA. All Heath ceramics are made in this one, tiny factory down by the waterfront; same place they have been made for the last 55 years. As someone who loves mid-century design and pottery, it was a little piece of heaven. They had wonderful tiles and mosaic ensembles displayed outside and inside the store. I think ceramics, whether they are earthy tiles or playful sculptures, usually blend perfectly with the natural world of gardens and outdoors living.
We missed the official tour, but here are some of the art they had on the front patio. The best pieces looked like they could have been there for decades.
